Orchid, the male cancer charity has teamed up with London College of Fashion andRaging Bull to create a t-shirt which will be launched to mark the Orchid’s Male Cancer Awareness Week (11-17 April 2011).
Students from all three years on the BA (Hons) Fashion Illustration course at London College of Fashion (LCF) were briefed to design an iconic t-shirt to raise awareness of the three male specific cancers – penile, prostate and testicular – by using a creative platform to engage and inform people of all ages.
“Every year over 37,000 men are diagnosed with a male cancer. Raising awareness is vital and we are thrilled to be partnering with London College of Fashion and Raging Bull to produce this creatively powerful T-shirt that we believe will reach new audiences, encouraging greater awareness of male-specific cancer and raise funds for the charity.” – Rebecca Porta, Chief Executive of Orchid
The winning design by second year student Elise Pellican was selected by a fashion and celebrity panel1
including pop artist Peter Andre, BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Flavia Cacace, Harold Tillman CBE, Chairman of the British Fashion Council and owner of Jaegar and Aquascutum, Dylan Jones, Editor of GQ Magazine and Gordon Richardson, Design Director at Topman.
Working in partnership with clothing brand Raging Bull – fronted by ex-England rugby player, Phil Vickery – T-shirts will be sold in the top ten House of Fraser stores across the UK and online at www.houseoffraser.co.uk and www.orchid-cancer.org.uk. Priced at £25.00each, the full profits from each T-shirt will be donated to Orchid.
